As for the many atrocious problems with the movie adaptation, one of the worst in my opinion is the changing of the rules of firebending. And the general weakness of all the benders except for anag kinda... we must make show that a proper movie will show bending as the creators intended it to be. NO Having to have torches for fire! NO Having to have a dozen earthbenders dance in order to lift one stupid rock!
And the actual progression of bending in general needs to be shown. No katara being able to kick everyone's butt at day one. It also imperative that each bending ability be correctly attached to each different fighting style and emotions represented by each element.
All of these are important things that need to be fixed for a new movie series.
They also made It very...powerless. I mean it took like 5 guys just to lift one probably like 50lbs stonefor another guy to throw it somewhere else.
And dont even get me started onthe whole fire bending s*** show. That wasn't even close to the tv series.
I think the bending was that biggest screw up in the movie. They deviated so far from what it Is supposed to be. It's one of those time where you don't change what's already perfect.
I totally agree, the fire that they bend is created from their own chi which means the fire isn't burning anything until it touches something flammable. So there should be no smoke until it burns something.
I think you are on to something Starman. Part of what bending unique was not only the different elements, but advanced benders had almost their own style as well. Toph was less about huge movements at first and more about small quick jabs like in the fighting rink, Azula's bending was all about precision than it was about large power blasts. Look at the episode where she tracks Aang to the abandoned city. Yes, there was still some large, powerful moves like her escape, but unlike the crossroads of destiny, most of her moves in the abandoned city are fought with only two fingers. So i agree that the bending period needs improvement especially fire and air. NOtice in the show how air is actually portrayed a few different ways. First is the common air moves and air ball that have this blueish tint. When Aang and Jet fight, its more like a airliner exhaust that is transperent but is visble because it picks up the leaves and debris aroudn it. I think they could have done that with air and fire. Also, I get fire creates smoke, but never in the show was smoke produced during firebending. Only after it made contact with its target did it act like normal fire.
